Almost everyone thought he'd come down hard, and still no one imagined this. Wow! With Payton out for a year, I would imagine the DC could be looking at being out at least a couple years. He might even have to start looking for a new occupation (not sure too many colleges will be looking to bring in a guy to their college program who was thrown out of the NFL for paying his players to hurt guys).

Watched a lot of Vilma commentary on the local news over the years. Seemed like such a nice and gentle (relatively speaking) person. Guess you can never really tell.. oh well. Did the crime.. do the time.

yet the saints' biggest problem hasn't been solved yet... Brees hasn't signed his tag nor has talks about new contract has progressed.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on SportsCenter Wednesday that the Saints are still making no progress in contract talks with unsigned franchise player Drew Brees.
There has been thought that bad PR brought about by the Saints' bounty scandal would spur owner Tom Benson into action, but that hasn't been the case. "I'm told that the two sides have not made any progress," Schefter said. "They're basically exactly where they've been ... they're not any closer to a new deal for Drew Brees than they were weeks ago. ... The deal is not close to being done."

Yeah never gonna happen. Brees is demanding a huge contract and we would't even come close to meeting his contract demands with how little cap space we have left.
