| Quote: | We’ll find out soon enough if the Bucs are going to do anything at linebacker in free agency. But we already know one guy they’re looking at in the draft. That’s TCU’s Tank Carder.
According to a league source, Carder will have an official visit with the Bucs the first week of April. |
Once the visit is confirmed I'll add it to the front page, but this is the first news of a private visit with a prospect. Tank's stock took a hit this season, but as a junior he looked like an early round pick. A hard nosed MLB, Carder's leadership and toughness are well documented. Coach Schiano is looking for "Buccaneer men" and the LB corps needs to be overhauled. Carder seems like a good fit. |
A few tidbits.

| Quote: | In the seventh grade, Carder suffered a broken back and punctured lung/diaphragm in a rollover car accident.
Team leader on and off the field, plays with fiery attitude. BMX off-road biking world champion at just nine years old. Some teams may consider him an injury risk due to the broken back, punctured lung and diaphragm suffered in a car accident in grade school. Plays with a neck roll as a precaution. Missed time before 2010 season after undergoing shoulder surgery, but returned for opening week. Was a kicking specialist in high school. |

| Quote: | | Tulsa Pro Day - QB GJ Kinne ran a 4.55 forty-time and had an impressive field workout throwing the football accurately while showing off his arm strength by throwing the ball 80 yards...WR/RS Damaris Johnson (5-7 171) ran a 4.45 forty-time, did 13 reps @ 225 on the bench, had a 30" vertical jump, a 9'-5" broad jump, a 4.25 short shuttle and a 6.80 3-cone time in front of representatives from the Jets, Giants, Broncos, Eagles, Cowboys, Patriots, Saints, Chargers, Seahawks, Packers, Colts, Bucs, Jaguars, Packers and Texans in attendance. |
With this free agency frenzy I doubt that anyone cares, but I'm going to post this news anyway
Kinne and Johnson are two late round prospects that could appeal to us. With Josh Johnson likely moving on we may be searching for a capable backup to Josh Freeman. Kinne is a very good athlete with a live arm. He could be a solid developmental prospect. Damaris Johnson is diminutive WR with explosive quickness. He doesn't have the frame to be anything more than a slot/gadget type player, but we need add some speed to our offense. Johnson could be an option. _________________

The Butch Davis connection seems to be at work here. With how much we invested in the DE position in the 2011 draft, drafting another DE so high seems unlikely but you never know. Coples is a physically impressive athlete that looks the part. He can set the edge with ease and he has the speed to create some havoc. He didn't have the senior season that most expected, but he is dripping potential. _________________

| I doubt we draft Coples, but we might as well do our dilligence. He is talented for sure, but a confusing prospect to say the least. |

This offseason has been a great success. We have filled 3 huge needs thus far, but we still have some holes to fill. One of those holes is at RB. Trent Richardson is the best RB in this class, but if we decide to go in a different direction with our 1st round pick David Wilson deserves some serious consideration. Wilson has electric ability. His speed and short area agility are elite. He's one of the best all around athletes in this draft class. Wilson may not be the biggest guy, but he consistently fights for yardage. I love him as a prospect. _________________

It's seems that the vibe around our team and Blount is that he will be second or a least 1 1/2 fiddle to a back that can carry or attempt to carry our running game. Schiano fed Rice like a stuffed pig when they were both at Rutgers. Carl spoke about it in his one on one interview, Saints had almost to many backs, hard to get into a blocking groove. Obviously we won't have the depth like they do, so we won't even have the option to work in 3-4 backs every game.
Is Wilson the type of back that can handle the pounding? No doubt he would be electric and add a huge element that we are missing... speed.
I would think that we either go Richardson or Martin in the second. Wilson seems to me would be more of a "fall back" option, because we will be adding a back in the first two rounds. _________________

Nice post. I really can't argue with any of that.
While I really value Wilson's gamebreaking speed, Schiano may be looking for more of a bruiser. With how much Schiano and Nicks have talked about a commitment to a ground and pound run game you may be right.
Richardson and Martin fit the bill. _________________

With the recent successes of Rob Gronkowski and Jimmy Graham, teams are looking for the next great TE. Is Ladarius Green the next great TE? At 6'6 he doesn't quite have the bulk of Gronk and Graham, but he possesses a similar skillset. Green is blessed with 4.5 speed and long arms. He plucks the ball out of the air like a rebounder. K2's durability continues to be a concern and we don't know what we have in Luke Stocker. If Green is available at the top of the 3rd round he may garner some consideration as we continue to build around Josh Freeman. _________________

This would be an awesome addition. I love this guy and enjoy that we are meeting with him. His upside is through the roof, in my opinion and is a freak of an athlete. Him and Stocker could be a nice tandem . At 6'6 240, Green could add 10-15 lbs to his frame once he gets into an NFL facility. |

I knew that would make you happy. If we can sign a starting caliber LB (Lofton, Tulloch, Hawthorne, Henderson, etc.) I won't be surprised if we draft a TE in the first 3 rounds. _________________

I agree. I want a backer and a back before a te and depending how our db situation turns out in the next few weeks maybe a cb all before a te.
With the rumors about us dangling Winslow out there a week or so ago, this could be the end of the road for him as a Buc. _________________

If I'm not mistaken he only weighs around 230 pounds. _________________
