I'm just being dramatic BUT Levi is probably the worst pass-pro LT in the league. He was ranked #32 for a while but recently found some success. If we're rewarding him on a few good games on the tail end of a poor 5 year relationaship then i question this teams ability to gauge a player's value. It makes zero sense to me bringing him back. I bet a team out there signs him and moves him inside. Not like it hasn't been done before. We should've done it already but Grimm/Whiz are stubborn and won't admit they made a mistake.
Hopefully Whiz meant nothing by the comments and was just giving the radio guys some empty words... |
I don't agree. In a poor tackle class, Levi would get some play on the market if we released him. Whiz is showing some love because we will want to restructure his contract so that we won't have to get to that point.
My prediction is we have him at LT next season.
Find a decent RT (Collins) and draft a tackle as early as possible while sticking to the board.
Draft an OG in the mid rounds and we still have the picks to address the D depth and pick up another WR candidate. |
It's simple for me. Except for a few games at the end of last season Levi has been a bottom 5 player at his position. LT might be overrated but i'd rather have someone there who could pass-protect and move the dominant run-blocker to RT. I just think the decision makers are too stubborn to move him again. He should not be an LT in this league. |
You make a valid point. But so does Sunnysouth. It's a poor tackle market. Just look at this list. Bell and Starks are likely to start on the PUP list(If they play at all), Heyer and Collins are unproven backups, Richardson and Brandon Keith horrendous. The lone withhold is Jared Gaither who's likely to be locked up by San Diego. And even if he isn't, he played well in what, 6 games? That's the exact same resume as Levi Brown. Exact same.
For me it isn't so much wanting Levi back, it's looking around the market and seeing nobody clearly better than him who's physically able to play week 1, 2012. _________________

Hearing the Cards would like to add 2 tackles this off season if they don't resign Levi Brown. #cards #draft #freeagency
Not exatcly breaking news, but it looks like we've all but moved on from Brandon Keith atleast as a starter.
If Levi doesn't return, I could see us drafting a guy like Mike Adams to play LT and signing someone like Anthony Collins to play RT.
Does anyone here think we might go OT, OT in the first and third? _________________

I'm not gonna say it will but if you're betting against it, you're a fool. _________________

I can't get a read on the Levi situation, we'll just have to wait and see. Do we pay for mediocre at the tackle spot or cut him loose? We can get an upgrade on the market pass-pro wise but Levi leaving would hurt the run game. That draft pick really screwed us, in fact the whole 2007 draft set us back. We need to build at least 2 OL spots longterm in the upcoming draft. _________________

Dream (Possible) scenario is Reiff in the first and Mosely in the third with Brooks in the 4th.
Yeah OL, OL, OL, back to back to back and three rookies starting, but it is an upgrade. _________________ Patrick Peterson - 92 targets, 40 catches allowed, 602 yards, 6 TD's, 7 INT's

Honestly I don't think it is hard to get a read on it. Basically look for him to be cut in the next 3-5 days. _________________ Patrick Peterson - 92 targets, 40 catches allowed, 602 yards, 6 TD's, 7 INT's

Whoa, Whiz started 3 rookies? Can't see it. I'd guess Hadnot would be back as a lock week 1 starter and Mosely would have to significantly outplay Jeremy Bridges to win his spot as well. _________________

3 OL is overkill imo. In a deep WR draft I'd go:
1. Reiff
3. WR
4. Brooks |

You've both got points. Is that a lot, lot, lot of offensive line for a team with a number of other needs, ya but it's hard to argue that we don't need it. When you're absolute best offensive line is merely average on a good day, 3 offensive lineman draft picks isn't necessarily a crazy idea. _________________

It would be cool to draft 5 or 6 straight OL, would fix alot of issues going forward.
I dont think that has ever been done.
Doubt it will happen |

Looking at the trade value chart, we could pair our 3rd with #13 and move up to #9. What if Reiff is available at #9...? _________________

True I guess it would depend on what we do with Levi. There's no point in drafting a second tackle early if we have Levi at RT long term. The Brooks pick I love. I'd even move him up to the 3rd round then get whichever WR falls into our lap in the 4th.
quick question stchamp, what do you think of Devon Wylie? |
