If I was a fan of any non-Red Sox or Yankees AL team, I love it. As a fan of an NL team, I don't necessary like it. It lessens the achievement of winning the division even more.
But overall, it's probably best for the game if a team outside the AL East has a chance at the WC.

Soooo, how will a 10 team playoff system work?
Or are they just doing the WC1 vs WC2 one game playoff to get in?

I'm not a fan of the extra WC team, but I'm not angry about either.
The new divison series format is ridiculous. It is now a 2-3 (the lower seed having home games first). This almost completely negates the advantage of being the higher seed. Frankly I'd rather have the two home games first and then play 3 away.

That is only for this year. They added the extra WC but didn't adapt the schedule because it was added so late.
