Maybe if it was for 27 and 63. I'm not too keen on trading up either. |

Right on.
Lets watch closely as the picks progress into the early 20's!

#7 is pretty much a lock to fall to you guys and would be a solid Pitcher selection.
Serious talk though, what's your guys' interest in moving up to #19. _________________

So who do you guys want at 27? We think they're a perfect fit at position unknown for us.
Sooooo watch out, unless you want to give us pick 27 and all your 2nd rounders! _________________

8 more players will be selected before we pick at 27.
Lets start serious discussions on a few players as we begin to get close. (selection will be made tomorrow)
A few things.
1) I'd like to all but eliminate #12 from our options unless he's there at 63. Even then, we may have big holes to still fill.
2) 10 & 13 are two of my top prospects still out there. We'll see if they stick around, but what do we want to do with that position? It's fairly deep, I think if those guys go we may be better of waiting until the 2nd or 3rd round to address it.
3) 71 & 7 are my top 2 pitchers available. What are our opinions on 71? I have a pretty high grade on him and believe he could be a guy that a lot of teams covet and could end up going top 40. There are not a ton of guys out there that specifically fit his mold, which fits into what we do here. Really want to talk about him.
EDIT: Include #26 in this discussion to.
4) There is always 17. We'll see if he's there at 27 and discuss that then, I think we'd have to give that serious consideration.
Here's a bit of idea. There's a player out there that I believe could be highly coveted in the last 5 picks of the 1st round, by the teams pick in the first 5 of the 2nd round. Player #23 If he's sitting there on our laps, what do we think about dealing the pick with one of the teams in the top 5 of the 2nd round. I guarantee the interest would be HUGE. We could do very well for ourselves if teams are clamouring for him at or around 27.
Just another options to consider. We could probably pick up another high draft pick in a deal like that.
So lets get some votes/thoughts on 1) 2) 3) and 4) _________________

I'd be very happy taking one of 7, 10, or 27 at 27. Hopefully one of the three is there.
17 is no longer a 1st round prospect IMO, 13 is good but I prefer 10. 71 I would consider at 48 but would prefer at 63, he's not nearly on the level of 7. Not too keen on trading back either, if we get blown away sure, but otherwise I like where we are. _________________

#17 isn't a first-rounder anymore. There's a few prospects that will be hanging around by the time our first second-rounder that are equally good prospects, without the injury concerns.
I actually really like the idea of taking #27, but I'm not sure he'll still be available.
If #10 isn't available at our pick, I think we should make every attempt to trade down into the top of the second. |
