I kept saying that all weekend because I was like they said they arnt interested which means they probablly are. But I guess I just cant see them offering what they have saposably offering and that just realistically not being the direction we are going. _________________

I firmly believe the trade to #2 is a smokescreen. Shanahan is in a "5 year rebuilding plan" and giving up multiple high draft picks would not be following that plan. We know the strategy is a very conservative approach: moving back 6 spots in last years draft and drafting a very solid, hard working player in Kerrigan. I understand that we lack a franchise QB and we should do whatever it takes to get one, but I firmly believe Shanahan first wants to get the roster strong. Giving away all those picks would not be wise.
Because of this, I believe there are 3 possibilities for acquiring our next starting QB.
1. Sit tight at 6 and draft Ryan Tannehill.
-Tannehill is a guy Shanahan could fall in love with. Extremely athletic, smart, hard worker, and has shown high potential. In this scenario, Rex Grossman is likely the starter for at least half of the season- giving Tannehill time to develop. I'm hoping this is the option
2. Sign Peyton Manning, Draft Trent Richardson, Justin Blackmon, or Michael Floyd at #6. Draft Brandon Weeden, Kirk Cousins, or Osweiler in 2nd round.
- Let's face it. Peyton Manning is not a typical free agent QB available. The guy is one of the best all time but the big question is if he can physically play. If he can, Shanahan wouldn't hesitate bringing this guy in for 3 seasons who could help develop a 2nd round QB or another one in a future draft. Getting a top playmaker at 6 would greatly improve our offense which is definitely an area that needs improvement.
3. Sign Matt Flynn. Draft top offensive playmaker at 6 (Richardson, Blackmon, or Floyd).
--Flynn could be the established young vet Shanny covets and could be a above average starting QB for 6-7 more seasons. This is a move I think has a very realistic chance of happening. We've seen Shanahan sign a QB in the past in Jake Plummer when he had an strong supporting cast around him. I think the Redskins are getting close as far as talent on the whole roster, yet were still missing that QB. _________________ You'll do great things Jake Locker. |

I disagree with this. If your intentions are to excite a fanbase that is on its last-leg you do not bring in Matt Flynn or Peyton Manning. The fans of the Redskins have been begging for a highly touted QB for years from the "draft". If Shanahan and Snyder want to inject some life back into FedEx field than RGIII is the way to go, damn the smokescreens. _________________

That is part of the reason I feel that Tannehill is the last resort! I feel that they are trying to finally have the comunity with a legitamant reason to come see this team for atleast 3 or 4 years! They are all in! I think its that simple no smoke no mirrors just getting their man! I kbiw we all want to try and speculate different scenarios because we are all racking our brain with all the diferent posibilities but I just have to believe in thier mind it is RG3/Luck or bust! And wanting any other option at this point no matter the price is insane! _________________

Rg3 would obviously be the best long term plan but you and I both know the fan base will be elated with a Peyton Manning signing and if Matt Flynn looks like our next Brad Johnson. _________________

Are you trying to say Flynn/Manning will have the same effect on fans that RGIII will? If Shanahans ultimate goal is to set-up this gig for his son why would he go after a veteran QB or a career back-up? You get your own guy in here and go from there. RGIII is that guy and I can't stress that enough. _________________

Agreed, we won't try to bluff RGIII and then pull away from him, I honestly believe Shanahan thinks we are a QB away from being a contender, and if we can minimize turnovers imagine how good we could have been last season _________________

Im with you! And I agree they wouldnt make a real offer just for the sake of it. Also if that was the case they wouldnt have made the highest offer! Now turtle I know your just trying to discuss other options. Honestly I have had most of those same thoughts go through my head as well because like usual we think very simular about alot of issues so I understand what your saying as well. But I just feel like at this point I think there isnt anything to make anything feel that we arnt doing whatever it takes, short of a insane unspeakable amount of picks/players that is just unimaginable to give away, that they are gonna do whatever to get this kid on the team. _________________

From the sound of things as of right now, I believe if your not on the RG3 bandwagon you better get a board now because I believe he will be a Redskin come draft day. He seems to be the mobile/accurate QB Shanahan needs in his system for It to work and Mike will do what It takes to get him here. If we do get him, I will be excited to have him just disappointed at the price we had to pay for him. Free Agency is right around the corner so I look forward to us being busy to add pieces that we will miss out on draft day. _________________

Yes if they win lavar. Try not to be do close minded, you act like RG3 is our only option and we can't win with someone else behind center and I'd that player does win he won't get the same support as rg3. Come on man. This is turning into a replay of Locker and only locker stance you and a few had last year. _________________

Think of it like this. Last year we added 12 new players via the draft and 11 of them were on the active roster at some point this season. Even if we lose our 2nd round pick in the trade it would still be like we had one due to Jarvis Jenkins returning, he will basically be a rookie. We will still have two fourths, a fifth, a sixth and a seventh round pick and we could use those picks to deal back up into the draft if someone we like is hanging around in say the third round. I'm excited about the young talent on this team even if the media portrays it like we have zero. Imagine adding a QB like RGIII to Helu, Fred Davis, Hankerson, Gaffeny and possibly Colston/Royal. We would have the makings of a tough franchise in my opinion. _________________

I never said RGIII was "my" only option, I said he is Shanahans only option. If Flynn flames out in his first year of what will be a major contract they will rake Mike over the coals, same with Peyton who regardless of what he says will get a monster contract. However if Mike picks RGIII than he could still have a poor rookie year and conceivably keep Mike from losing his job due to the "rookie" status. Shanahan painted himself into this corner when he decided to pass on every QB in the draft for the past two years. _________________

Same difference, and for the record I love rg3 as a prospect. He proved himself over the second half of the year vs big time competition. And every time I see him or hear him speak I come away moreimpressed and what's not to like about a political science major, I still worry about Kyle ruining him, but that's a whole mother issue. _________________
