Well, it's a good thing that we didn't trade for Sharper, because he was just released by the Texans. Bengals.com reported that Cincinnati has approached Sharper today after his release. Because of injuries to Nate Webster and Landon Johnson, it makes sense that a former Marvin Lewis draft pick would return just as Webster did a year ago. However, who gets cut to sign him? Does Webster get the axe? I'm not sure how much he would save us, but if releasing Webster gives us enough money to get Sharper, I'm all for it. Sharper is a clear upgrade even at age 30. Webster never proved himself before getting injured, and we can't sit around and hope he is recovered in time for the seaason when Sharper is very interested in playing for us. Sharper led the league in tackles a year ago; I would take that any day.
If we sign Sharper, I don't think we would take Crowder in the 1st round. I think that would increase the likelyhood of us taking either Pollack or Davis out Georgia. Ironically another Georgia player, Odell Thurman, would be a fantastic pick-up in the second round to provide depth at middle linebacker and to learn behind Sharper for a year or two. He might not be there at our pick in the 2nd round however. I also saw on bengals.com where we are scheduling a visit with Thurman. I think it is very possible that we could take two Bulldogs in the first two rounds to come play for the Cats. |

I think that with Webster's problems, some sort of injury settlement will be reached as far as his future with the team. Thanks for those 3 games. _________________

According to a Seattle paper, the Bengals at least started negotiations with a low offer. It is a little disappointing because I think he can be an improvement from Webster and allow Landon Johnson to move outside. You can never tell if it was just a starting point and the Bengals are actually in the running still, but you also don't want to overpay for any position.
