Matt Kalil is up at the podium, all this is through Tom Pelissero, he says he is the best tackle in the draft and says that he ways 306, which is 6 pounds heavier than his USC playing weight.

he's also almost 6'7" too. that's great, i heard people saying he was barely 6'5" 34 inch arms as well according to walter football. reiff came in about an inch shorter and 10 pounds heavier. i thin kalil will have better athletic numbers at the combine.

osemele measured out at 6'6", 333 lbs, with a big frame and 36 inch arms and people are saying he still cant be a tackle. he must really be unathletic and raw in technique :S

With some additional thoughts provided by Scott Wright of DraftCountdown.com, here’s a quintet worth keeping an eye on as the hyper-analysis of the combine begins …

Janoris Jenkins, North Alabama
What’s to love: It’s not a stretch to say Jenkins has enough talent to quickly become a perennial Pro Bowler. He’s an explosive athlete who has the skill to flourish in both man and zone coverage.

Chase Minnifield, Virginia
What’s to love: Minnifield does a lot of things well, a gifted player who has a feel for the game and good bloodlines.

Alfonzo Dennard, Nebraska
What’s to love: It’s hard not to recognize Dennard’s intelligence.

Trumaine Johnson, Montana
What’s to love: He’s big. He’s athletic. He’s quick. He’s polished. (Post. Note: VD's new man-crush?)

Josh Norman, Coastal Carolina
What’s to love: Looking for a late-round sleeper? Norman could be your guy, an under-appreciated talent who is athletic and has a knack for making plays.

Osemele looked pretty bad during the Senior Bowl week at right tackle. Watching him compared to someone like Cordy Glenn was like night and day.

I just didn't see the versatile player that he was hyped up as being. He is strictly a guard in the NFL.

Most draft sites had Osemele as a guard all year long. There was never any doubt that he was going to play inside at the next level.

absolutely not, actually.

Johnson isn't all that bright, resisted an arrest at a public disturbance party at his own apartment at 4 am, and on the field is known more for how hard he hits, not how well he tackles.

remember Greg Blue...?

Greg Whoooo? Laughing

I get the sense that Johnson, Jenkins and the other CB are sort of the same mold - very gifted athletically who tend to lack maturity and/or common sense.

In Johnson's case I don't know how fast he is, but we'll find out soon enough. His size is reported as 6' 2" . . . then again 6'8" Nate Potter just measured in at 6 ' 6".

Guess the traxxxx at Indy are slower and the rulers are stretched . . . lol

An interesting scenario came up during a discussion at work toady; the Vikings are on the clock with their 2nd round pick (35th overall).

1. The Vikings drafted Matt Kalil with the 3rd pick.

2. Wide receivers Justin Blackmon, Kendall Wright, and Michael Floyd, are off the board, along with defensive backs Morris Claiborne. Dre Kirkpatrick, Alfonso Dennard, Jenoris Jenkins, Chase Minnifield, and Mark Barron. In short, the first tier of players from these positions are gone.

If an offensive lineman like Jonathan Martin, Mike Adams, or Cordy Glenn is still on the board, do you take one of them?

Absolutely.

Guard is still a huge need, and Loadholt is a bust. Getting two premiere OT's would be great.

During his college career, Glenn has started 28 games at left guard, 18 at left tackle, and 4 at right guard.

yup. i saw a mock in the mock draft forum not to long ago. it had us taking kalil and glenn. given how the draft played out it was great. i'd love for that to happen. even with kalil, our oline still needs major upgrades at all positions except center, so it would be a need and bpa to grab one of the three players you mentioned.

Only for Glenn. He and Kalil beside each other would be insane. Though I don't see him coming close to the second round.

Jonathan Martin and Mike Adams would be stuck at right tackle in this scenario and I think we would be better off looking at another position.

The draft is pretty deep with right tackle prospects.

If Glenn slipped to the 2nd Rd pick, the vikes could absolutely use his talent!

It'll be interesting to see how the first round unfolds . . . 2 or 3 QBs, 4 OTs, 3 OGs, 1 C, 4 WRs, 1 TE, 2 RBs, 4 DTs, 3 DEs, 5 CBs, 4 LBs, 1 Safety . . .

There will be one or two surpises that will cause slips for some really good players.

Official height and weight of RGIII: 6'2 3/8" 223 lbs

surprised. thought he was going to come in at 6'1 or something shorter than expected.
