Just saw this and wanted to pass it along. Tebow has a private QB coach.

While I am glad that Tebow has decided to work with someone other than his brother, I would've thought there might have been better options for him. Though I believe this guy was Phillip Rivers' OC at N.C. St. and was obviously one of the most accurate college QB's in history. And since he didn't/doesn't have the most normal throwing motion, it's good that Mazzone has experience with assisting an unorthodox release. I'm guessing Tebow's relationship with Rivers led him down this path via referral? I'm sure it can only help him.

You guys remember the Tebow video leading up to the draft that Tebow was revealing his new throwing motion?

I believe he was one of the guys that worked with him. So Tim obviously feels comfortable with him. Also, Ive read Tebow and Christian Ponder worked out together a couple times last offseason with this guy. Would be good for Tim to get some continuity.

A whole off-season and Tebow will have a better release form.

I'm going to assume he's going to work harder on the deep bombs as well.

While Tebow doesn't throw a great deep ball and is terribly inconsistent throwing it, it is probably the area of the passing game he is best at. What he really needs to be working on is the short to intermediate passing game, both in understanding, touch, and accuracy.

Agreed. the only passes Tebow was capable of connecting on last season were deep bombs and deep bullet passes. Anything in the short to intermediate range where he has to show 'touch' is incredibly bad.

Also, I wont be looking for much change in his motion this year, or ever. Its his footwork that needs more work than anything. He's got a worse case of happy feet when he has to stand in the pocket and make reads than I have ever seen in the NFL. Even Elway has said there wont be much change in his motion - its a battle not worth fighting, imo (like trying to change an NBA player who shoots with poor form) - and that he would gain more from improved footwork. Tebow improving his footwork will help in his short and intermediate throw accuracy.

Had a 70 yard rush with our fullback (now Ahmad Hall) today on All Madden against the Ravens.

Never have I heard the commentary "(Laughing) Put that in the record books. I've never seen that long a run by a fullback."

After seeing Foxy's transcript today, I see no way that we bring it a high-round QB. We'll bring in a veteran backup, and draft a mid/late round guy for PS competition. That's it.

Agreed. Same impression I got too.

Hes ready to let Tim take it, it seems. Like you said, I would assume a vet and a late-round guy/UDFA

I think this just confirms what a few of us around here have been saying all along. John Fox likes Tebow. He plays within the game plan, and if he can correct his fumbling issues, won't turn the ball over much. This team will will continue to be run heavy. I truly believe they will focus on defense heavily in the draft and in FA as well. Aside from maybe a RB and another late round WR or cheap vet WR, I dont see many changes coming on offense. They also might look to upgrade and add depth to the Oline as well.

He definitely plays within Fox's gameplan.

However, his biggest issue is still is confidence in short and intermediate throws. Then when he finally pulls the trigger its not even close to the receiver. This offseason Im sure him Decker and DT will be working on routes and timing. It only makes sense to iron that out since theyve never had an opportunity to do so.

And yes I agree with you, we will most definitely be heavy on defense again. Maybe a couple athletic playmakers too. Judging by what EXF took last year on defense, I would expect the same kind of athletic freaks on offense.

I quoted this from Elway talking about Tebow, I know its been discussed some people think we are going to quit using the spread look on offense but after reading this I think Elway/Fox are going to stick with it because it gives Tebow the best chance to succeed.

Quote:
"I think there's things that we have to get him to do within our offense to be successful as an offense," Elway said. "Tim's strengths are, no question, he's able to run the football, he's a big guy and physical and likes to run it. We also want to see strides in Tim and his ability to throw the football down the field from in the pocket. We feel like that's something we have to do to get better as an offense. To add that threat there makes everything else he does that much better."

I actually got just the opposite from the same article. He also mentioned he's not concerned if they pick up a pure drop back passer as a backup. Said either one could run the offense. I think all he's refering to is once TT learns to succeed as a pocket passer, it'll open up the chance for him to occasionally run from a traditional set.

Nothing I've read would lead me to believe they're going to tailor an offense to TT's strengths. Just that they might call his number in rushing plays more than they would another QB.
