Are the only 4 I'd undoubtedly chose over branch.

R.Harper and K.Phillips are toss ups with branch.

Other then that I wouldn't want any SS starting on my team over branch.

Early43 i am saying he is at worst a top 7 SS. At best top 5.

My thoughts as well. I wanted to Jtagg to come up with 12 SS who are better than Branch, which would then make him "average"... still waiting on that list.

My point was in a list of 12, if Branch was between 8-12 that would make him above-average based on there being 32 teams in the league.

I disagree, that is a reason we r in financial mess. We as fans and Raider ownership have thouught of holding on to our home grown players, and to get ur heart set on players is when u make the wrong decisions. Altho I agree that his heart and work ethic r what we want and need on this team, I don't think we should over pay for anyone anymore. Mackenzie will look at our free agents as he looks at other free agents, he even sed that in the presser. Campbell is a free agent just like all other qb's. He's not giving home grown bonus points, jus best value for the talent.

The reason the Raiders are in this mess is because of FAs and the stupid contracts that Al Davis was giving out to his pet players.
Until recently the Raiders haven’t been drafting good players so there was no one to keep but now the Raiders have a few very good young players and we should keep all of them.

P Chung (now don't flip out like everyone else does when I include FS's b/c Chung is originally a FS but he played SS a lot if not all this season. This is hopefully an eye opener to some that a FS can easily play SS given the chance)
On a good day, I'd put A Elam over him but I think they're similar.
B Pollard even though he's a PoS and I can't stand him
S Jones has been one of the most underrated S since his days w/ the Browns (which is why he lacks recognition) so it'd be close w/ them. Might give the edge to Jones b/c he's been very good on some very bad teams. Him and Elam were both quite the tandem back there.

So there's 10 definitive and a couple possibles. There's also a handful of FS I would take over him at the position but for the sake of people's willingness to jump down my throat at any "mistake" I'll leave that alone. If I looked at every SS in the league, I'm sure I'd find a couple more.

There's your list.

I don't see what the big deal is about being "slightly above average" is anyway. So what? You're 11th and not 12th. Big deal.

Home grown or not, I don't care. I want football players who produce. A team can have an entire roster of "hard working players" but if they're not good, they're not good. Rudi Rudiger was a hard worker. Probably the hardest of workers, and thanks to whoever made the movie, we all know his story.
