|
|
|
First and foremost, there's nothing to be disappointed about the 49ers amazing season, except, Kyle Williams' heroic effort, that left bitterness in all of our mouths! Nonetheless, we must all move past this inexcusable turnover, and look forward to the future.
Here are my offseason needs & My first 3 Round Mock Draft:
1) Offseason needs:
• Try to sign one of these three WRs; DeSean Jackson(duel threat - PR/WR), Vincent Jackson, and Marques Colston. 1-13 on third downs won't and will not cut it!
• go after CB, Courtland Finnegan. Despite the 49ers pressure on Eli Manning throughout the whole game, he still managed to throw for over 300 yards & 2TDs!
• resign free agents, Carlos Rogers, Goldson, Ted Ginn, Costanzo, Adam Snyder, Josh Morgan, and anybody else that's worth bringing back.
3 Round Mock Draft:
1) TE Coby Fleener 6'6" 250lbs - I know we still have Delanie Walker, but I can envision Coby making a huge splash as a rookie.
2) CB Ryan Steed 5'11" 188lbs - Athletic, fluid, physical, and should be able to cover quick receivers like Victor Cruz.
3) LT Joe Long 6'6" 310lbs - Jake Longs little brother might not be as good as Jake coming out our college, but with time and experience, he should turnout to be as good if not better than big bro! _________________ http://images.fandango.com/r84.8.1/ImageRenderer/140/210/images/no_image_140x210.jpg/0/images/masterrepository/amg/cov150/dru800/u801/u80183dpibz.jpg |

Like I always say, you guys know the draft way better than me. So is Coby a reach there? And are we taking the tackle because he is the best value there? Are we moving someone to G because Long is so good? _________________

rudyZ will be elated to see you back, n2te.
I think until Fleener runs his 40 and so on, he's a 2nd rounder... but we'll see. We wouldn't be the only team looking for the next Jimmy Graham.
Steed has looked alright, but a climb into the 2nd round right now is a huge expectation. And Joe Long? ... haha... ooookay. _________________

Continuing with the offseason extravaganza...
• Beginning with February 25th: OL' & TE' will put their best attributes to test in front of GMs, coaches, and NFL scouts!
- Prospect I'm looking forward to watching on this date are: OT Joe Long(potentially a starting RT for the 9ers), G Cordy Glenn(looks like a clone of Carl Nicks), C David Molk(would make a solid backup to C Jonathan Goodwin), TE Coby Fleener(looking forward to his bench press & 40 time), TE LaDarius Green(40 time & bench), and TE Adam Nissley(6'6" 270lbs)!
Here is my revised 3 Round Mock Draft:
1) TE Coby Fleener 6'6" 250lbs or WR Michael Floyd 6'3" 230lbs - Coby is obviously the safer pick here, but Mike is the better athlete!
2) CB Ryan Steed 5'11" 190lbs or CB Leonard Johnson 5'10" 196lbs - Steed is the more fluid athlete with better playmaking ability, but Johnson is the
more compact corner that can stick his nose in the run support with no
problem.
3) Joe Long 6'6" 310lbs or OLB Nigel Bradham 6'2" 240lbs and or WR Stephen Hill - Stephen is an interesting prospect who could've been a sure first rounder next year! Word is that, the 49ers are going to let Chilo & Adam Snyder walk. The niners are probably then going move Anthony Davis to RG and draft another talent to fight(Boone) for the RT, that will be Joe Long. Nigel bradham is probably the fierce's competitor of all the LBs in this class, he can not only bench press 500lbs, but most importantly he can cover TEs
& RBs!

Hmm...Do guys named Nigel succeed at any American sport? Might want to research this, it may trump the bench press, but I'm not sure. _________________

There was a Nigel playing hockey (north american sport, at least), Nigel Dawes, pretty good goal scorer, but he left to play in europe. That should tell you about Nigels in america. Even home-grown Nigels have to export their talents elsewhere.
And welcome back n2te! I can't believe I've missed this thread for more than 3 weeks. _________________

Chiefs agreed to terms with CB Stanford Routt on a three-year, $20 million contract.
The numbers reported by NFL Network's Jason La Canfora are $19.6 million with a $4 million signing bonus. It's starter money, and makes it more likely that Kansas City will let free agent CB Brandon Carr break the bank on the open market. Expect Dwayne Bowe to get the franchise tag. Routt, who turns 29 before the season, is a press-man corner and fits Romeo Crennel's defensive scheme. While he allowed too many touchdown passes ( and committed too many penalties (17) last year, Routt posted career highs in interceptions (4) and pass breakups (15). Pro Football Focus graded Routt as the NFL's 19th-best cornerback in terms of coverage. While Carr will command more money, PFF had him 21st.
looks like Carr will be a FA... _________________

I really have no interest in Carr. Unless Rogers walks, I don't see why we need to address the corner position in the first 2 rounds. I think after Culliver, our depth becomes very iffy, (same with the safeties). But our #1 need(s) is O-line, OLB (if Brooks walks) and WR. _________________
