I can see a thread coming very soon about how the Raiders were 'screwed by the NFL' over these compensatory picks. Complete with Broncos fans and the like poking mad fun.
Why?
Because most are overestimating what the Raiders will get.
I read at the time of signing Houshmanzadeh will offset against the compensatory picks which made it a worse signing. Not sure the validity of that, just remember the blurb on twitter. _________________

If we get a 3rd for Aso and 2 5ths for the others I'll be happy.
As BP says people seem to be really overvaluing what we will get. |

Housh was sign too late in the year to qualify for the comp. pick formula.
I too, at first glance, though we would be getting much lower picks. A 3rd for Aso, and maybe two 5th's if we were lucky. Maybe a 5th and a 6th. But after spending some time with the numbers, these were what the numbers said. Granted nobody knows the exact formula, but some have deduced a very good idea of what the formula is like being able to piece together many years worth of picks. I'm fairly confident we'll get something near these. _________________ Bah-Weep-Granah-Weep-Nini-Bong

No deja vu on Routt. He is a cut, we will get nothing. |

Aso - 3rd.
Miller - 4th
Howard - 6th.
That's how I see it.
Gradkowski is CXL'd out by Heyer.
Gallery CXL'd out by Boss.
Howard may net a 5th if lucky.
Need all the picks they can get. _________________

From what ive seen , the way picks get canceled out is first by equal avg.salary, than if nothing equal , they cancel out a slightly less value salary, than more expensive in that order.
So the 4 mill avg.for boss wud cancel Howard not miller or gallery, n heyer cancels grad |

I was thinking a 3rd, 4th & 7th. As long as the Raiders get 3 comp picks and one of them is a 3rd I'll be happy. _________________ 2013 Mancrush: DT Richardson, OT Joeckel, FS Vaccaro, FS Rambo, WR Dobson, RB Michael, TE McDonald, OT Foketi, WR Swope |

So if you cut guys like Routt, Wimbley, etc. do they factor into comp picks the following year or is that strictly for expiring contracts? _________________
