Draft Picks
| Quote: |
Adding Floyd, a true Split End receiver and redzone threat, will make us an even more explosive, and much more efficient offense. Floyd will give us that true #1 receiver we have lacked since Terrell Owens, allows us to kick Jeremy Maclin into the slot, and Jackson to stick at flanker. We improve our already explosive offense with the addition of Floyd, who to us, has Larry Fitzgerald like upside. He was very productive in a pro style offense at Notre Dame, and we see him continuing that here in Philadelphia.

I hadn't touched on this since the ruling was made over the weekend, but I would rather just lose the 5th round pick than the cap space, TBH. |
I'd prefer we not be penalized for nothing, but yea I'd rather cough up a pick then the cash _________________

| Quote: | Here in Philadelphia we like Brandon Graham and think his skill set will fit in nicely with the wide-9, however with his injury history he hasn't proven worth of $2,490,620 roster bonus yet. That said we have no doubts that he will prove worthy of it thus we are offering to turn that roster bonus into a prorated signing bonus over the next 4 seasons (2012, 13, 14,and 15) which would increase the prorated signing bonus to but would bring his signing bonus to $2,330,155 per season from $1,707,500. The rest of his contract would shake out as follows.
4 Years / $14,478,090 / $9,320,620 Signing Bonus
2012
Base Salary
$827,500
Bonus
$2,330,155
Total
$3,157,665
2013
Base Salary
1,250,000
Bonus
$2,300,155
Total
$3,550,155
2014
Base Salary
$1,670,000
Bonus
$2,300,155
Total
$3,970,155
2015
Base Salary
$1,500,000
Signing Bonus
$2,300,155
Total
$3,800,155
The deal saves us cap room in the short term while keeping all of Graham's cap hits under 4 million, while it guarantees Graham's roster bonus and increases his cap hit in 2013, 14, and 15. |
Back to the Graham re-structure heres what it would look like.
Also, me, Kilty, and 808 have agreed that the following trade is pretty good value and we clear cap space in doing so:
| Quote: | Philadelphia Gets
Buffalo's First Round Pick 1(10)
Buffalo Gets
Philadelphia's 1st Round Pick (15)
Carolina's 3rd Round Pick (10)
Washington's 6th Round Pick (7)

Not necessarily a fan. I think we'll need that third later if we want a second first rounder down the road, and I don't really see anyone worth trading up those five spots for. _________________

This will get rejected. He not only loses his 5 million dollar pay check but he makes the same/less than he would have in the entirety. You need to give him something for him to accept a restructure, players don't just turn down 5 million dollar checks to "help the team".

How so, he doesn't lose 5 million, in fact, this deal guarentees he makes that in addition although it is spread out. It is the same exact deal sans the roster bonus but with more guarenteed money over the last 4 years. _________________

I'm playing devils advocate. You're basically going to a player and asking him to take less money now (dropping his bonus from 5 mil to 1.7 mil) and just give it to him later with no extra incentives (aka more years or more money). Players don't do that on a everyday basis and certainly won't do it because they got injured and didn't perform up to expectations in the first two years of their deal. _________________

To my knowledge, signing bonuses are paid up front but the distribution of the cap is what the proration is for, am I right or wrong? _________________
