"arm strength" is not based on how far a guy can throw, but how quickly he can throw intermediate passes from hash mark to hash mark. Every QB in the NFL can chuck it 50-60 yards, but not every guy can throw it across the middle with enough velocity to prevent it from being intercepted.

I just have to QFT this. If you're playing High School QB, you're probably able to throw 40 yards. College? 50-60. NFL? 50-60.

You're NOT drafting a QB if he can't get the ball downfield at least 50+ yards on a single throw. Pennington lacked arm strength, but that's more of a lack of putting velocity on his throws, not because he can't throw the ball downfield.

I remember in a playoff game against the Chargers Penny threw a bomb to Santana Moss in the end zone, the ball was placed perfectly. He didn't have the velocity on his passes, but he could make the deep throws. They just didn't get there like a Favre laser did.

I thought this thread was going to get locked because someone bumped an old thread.

Thought the guy retired a year ago. Too bad he had those injuries. He had a solid career anyways.

Very likable guy. Congrats on a solid career, best of luck doing whatever he chooses to do.
