We can get a first for him, get rid of his completely undeserving contract, and have Waters fill in at LG while we work Cannon in, or find a suitable replacement. Guards are not that difficult to find, and I would much rather have a mid level first round pick plus cap space than Logan Mankins who once again, crapped his pants against the Giants.

He's a good player, but he is not elite and overrated and overpaid and does not show up in big games.

I noticed last night he was the weakest link on the line at a majority of times (that sack by Tuck at the end was so stupid I about flipped the table).

I don't think we necessarily need to get rid of him, but if offers do come in, I would listen intently.

It'd cost the Pats an extra $9M against the cap to trade him. There'd be a ton of dead money.

That ship has sailed. They're stuck with him. I didn't want him back at the dollars he was bound to command, but the Pats felt differently.

For better or for worse, he's gonna be around for at least one more year.

Really? Ugh. I want him out as soon as possible. Has been nothing but a fraud since signing that contract.

Waters has one (at most) year left in him and Cannon is totally unproven.

I don't like Mankins, but there's really no point in trading him.

I honestly think you guys are over reacting. So ya we lost the Super Bowl but you can't just pinpoint one person and blame him. If you want Mankins gone because of his play in the Super Bowl, then we should also trade Brady, not resign Welker and Branch, and trade Aaron Hernandez away. Hell to go along with it Gronk for being injured and our entire D. Just let the hurt settle and everything will be fine, Mankins was our best Olineman all season one bad game doesn't change that.

Light and Waters were both consistently better all season

I agree with some of your points but Mankins has been a huge liability during our playoff games.

08 SB, 09 Ravens, 10 Jets, and now. He tends to play like crap when the pressure is on.

I'll give him another year but he's pissing me off.

Mankins was not "bad" yesterday. To say anyone on that offensive line played "bad" is preposterous.

He had, all things considered, a very good year. Played well in the playoffs, including against one of the best front fours in the league in the Super Bowl. Whether or not he deserved that contract is irrelevant, he's going to be a Patriot for the foreseeable future, and that's not really a bad thing.

He gave up 2 sacks. 2 sacks on a stunt where Vollmer handled him well and Tuck stunted to the inside and Logan couldn't control him.

Pretty sure I counted 3 pressures he gave up in the 4th quarter, and he let Tuck through on the 1st play (safety).

He comes up small when it counts. I know he draws tough assignments, but he's paid top dollar and his performance against the best DL in the biggest games is not what you'd hope for from an "elite" player.

I often see Waters manned up on his guy holding his own no problem while Mankins is somewhere else either helping Light or getting thrown off balance and pushed too close into Brady that Brady has to side step and step up.

Light, Vollmer, Solder can all easily throw DEs around Brady. Why is it that every time I see a Saints game, Brees has the DEs tossed by him thanks to his tackles, and he just steps up, where his G/C/G are all holding their man at the LOS, and drops a 40 yard bomb on people...yet Mankins craps out so much for being "Pro Bowl" and "top 3 Guard" Evil or Very Mad

This pretty much sums up Mankins worth with the Patriots.
