Contract Restructure Rules
The Gnat wrote: | There will be an opportunity to re-sign some of your own UFAs and to restructure some contracts (either existing or after franchise tagging/RFA tendering), but the number of players per team that this can happen for will be limited.
Thread should be up shortly, but it is going to be 4 total resignings or restructurings with no more than 3 of 1 of them (eg a team could try and resign 3 free agents but not 4 of their free agents). Also, these are 1 and done sort of deals, so if they don't work out the first time, there is no negotiating and it uses up one of your resigning or restructuring attempts. |

Staff Position Responsibilities
Quote: | Assistant General Manager - The GM's right hand man. Requires a very, very active poster because if I'm absent, the chain of command falls squarely on this person's shoulders. Overall football knowledge must be very high.
Head Coach - Requires a high level of dedication to FFMD as well. Needs to be active on the forum on a daily basis, just like the Assistant GM. This poster will be responsible for posting updated depth charts, having a large amount of input on overall team direction and player personnel.
Statistics Consultant - Requires a varying level of activity on the forum. Responsible for breaking down 2011's seasonal statistics to identify needs not only for our roster, but also other teams' rosters in an effort to determine draft strategies, free agent signings and to help with overall team direction.
Capologist - Requires a moderate to high level of activity. This person is responsible for making sure we stay within budget, and helps with all free agent contracts as well as restructures.
Offensive Coordinater - Requires moderate level of activity on the forums. You have a large say so with the moves and direction of the offense.
Defensive Coordinater - Requires moderate level of activity on the forums. You have a large say so with moves and direction of the defense.
President of Player Personnel - Requires moderate activity on the forum. This position is in charge of evaluating all players, not only the ones on the teams but potential FA and trade targets as well. It is your job to identify who fits on this team and who doesn't.
National Scout - Moderate activity level. You would be scouting college players in the draft this year and reporting back to our War Room thread to help familiarize everyone with as many prospects as possible. Having the help of conference specific scouts, you must build big boards incorporating players from any and all conferences
Conference Specific Scouts - Moderate activity level. Your job will be to inform us on prospects in your given conferences, along with making big boards for them. There are 5 positions for this job...
ACC / SEC Scout
Big East / Big Ten Scout
Pac-12 / Big 12 Scout
Independent / C-USA / MAC / Sun Belt / WAC Scout
D-FCS / D-II / D-III / JuCo Scout
Director of Media Relations - Activity level requirement will vary for this position. Someone with excellent written communication/sales skills would be ideal, as the responsibilities include typing up press releases (possibly including contract offers if necessary), making acquisition announcements, hand shaking, etc. |

First up we need to determine if we want to use our franchise tag on anyone and who we want to release. Feel free to leave your input in this thread, regardless if you are on the staff or not.
I'm leaning on not using the franchise tag, with an outside chance of using it on Pouha. |

I mean Eric Smith, Wayne Hunter and possibly Shonn Greene are guys I'd look to release. Because we can easily upgrade at each in the draft. Which gives us some additional money.
As far as tagging anybody. No one really worth it on this team other than Revis, Mangold and Ferguson and they're all locked up so no need to tag anyone _________________

Due to the fact that Shonn Greene will be in the last year of his rookie contract it would make little sense to cut him. It would only create a cap savings of half a million. |

For some reason I was thinking the franchise tag contract for a nose tackle was 5-7 million... I was wrong, Paul Soliai of the Dolphins signed a franchise tag worth 12.5 million last year.
We will not be using the franchise tag on anyone this year. |

Just a heads-up. Under the new CBA the amounts for the franchise tender actually decreased (in the case of most positions) notably. The numbers will be up shortly (I'll start griping at skater and drd23 on my lunch break), but the "DT" franchise tender is considerably more affordable than the 12.5M Soliai received last year (unless of course we're talking about Soliai himself, who would - per the CBA - require a tender of 120% of his previous year's salary which was that same 12.5M tender). Think it went down to something like 7-8M-ish. _________________

I think we shouldn't use our franchise tag, we should be able to re-sign the guys we want, not only that but nobody is close to being worthy for it. _________________ Adopt a Jet - Clyde Gates |

Shonn Greene should not be cut or thought about being cut!
ALSO, Eric Smith should be kept this year. I know he is terrible at coverage but with the uncertainty of Jim Leonard, we should hang on to him for cheap.
Eric Smith did provide 89 total tackles, 2.5 sacks, 4 Pass Deflections, and 1 INT.....While these stats aren't the greatest....They're good. Might try him at SS next yer if Leonard can't go and get a true Ball Hawk in FA or draft _________________
