Espn released its re-draft of 2006 and Mario, Meco, Winston, and OD were all in the top 25......we need another one of these drafts this year! _________________

i was just coming to post this.....great draft for us
even better when you consider we might of had a starting LT if Spencer didnt suffer some big injuries and we also came away with David Anderson who was decent for a 7th rounder
we also have added a few picks from 2006 with Joesph, Leinart, Butler
all in all 2006 was good to us _________________

You forgot Danieal Manning who Kiper also has in the top 32.
So basically on Kiper's redraft we have 6 of the top 32 on our team. _________________

Yup and I didn't realize JJo was a gamecock, they've produced some quality CB the last decadeish _________________

Well, with the way things are looking now, we could very well see a similarly impressive turnout from our 09 and 11 drafts. _________________ Welcome to Houston, DeAndre Hopkins! |

I think when alls said and done we'll have picked at least 3 first round values from the 2011 in Watt Reed and Yates (who I think in 2-3 more years will be starting somewhere and playing well). _________________

'09 draft was fantastic | Just the fact that Nolan is still on the team is pretty impressive. How many NFL teams still have their 7th round pick from the 2009 draft on their roster? I bet its a pretty small number. _________________

If only this re-draft was true. Imagine how dominant our line would be right now if we had Ngata. |

For as good as the 2006, 2009 and 2011 drafts were, 2007 and 2008 were complete failures:
(2007)
1. Amobi Okoye (cut)
3. Jacoby Jones (soon to be cut)
4. Fred Bennett (cut)
5. Brandon Harrison (cut)
5. Brandon Frye (cut)
6. Kasey Studdard (I THINK he was cut)
7. Zac Diles (cut)
(2008)
1. Duane Brown (BIG year, only player worth mentioning)
3. Antwan Molden (cut)
3. Steve Slaton (cut)
4. Xavier Adibi (I think he was cut, havn't seen him)
5. Frank Okam (cut)
6. Dominique Barber (ST role player, soon to be cut)
7. Alex Brink (cut)
For all of the patting on the back we get for 2006/2009/2011 drafts, these two drafts were horrid. One starter amongst the whole group (and while he's a good starter, it took him a while to get up to speed) and several busts, including a top 10 selection. On the plus side, the two 2nd round picks in these drafts were instrumental in landing QB Matt Schaub...but still, going 1/14 in those two years isn't what you want when you're trying to build up a team. _________________

Sorry to rain on parades (why lie, I love doing this) but WR Marquis Colston was picked two spots after Anderson. Now, Colston is slated to be one of the top 3 FA WRs in the NFL this offseason, and Anderson is busy working on his standup routine in preperation for hihs 2nd career.
I know people don't like to play the hindsight game, but Colston was tearing it up at the combine and the E/W Shrine game, going from a sure fire UDFA WR pick from Hofstra to a 7th rounder on Sean Payton's big board. Anderson didn't do much of anything outside of entertain Kubiak's kids at CSU...which is good enough for a contract for this team.
I will agree that the draft as a whole was good...but that pick itself was a BAD pick, seeing that we could of had our #2 WR had we done our homework and not stuck with the typical nepotism that runs rampant in these parts. _________________

The 2010 draft also looks like it could be pretty bland for us:
Kareem Jackson (the most controversial starter on the team)
Ben Tate (good back-up)
Earl Mitchell (they keep saying he's good, but I don't see it)
Darryl Sharpton (solid 3rd/4th ILB)
Garrett Graham (because we need that 4th TE just in case)
Sherrick McManis (awful kick returner, awful defensive back)
Shelley Smith (he's somehow still on the team)
Trindon Holliday (the most mind-blowingly bad pick a team can make in the 6th round)
Dorin Dickerson (can't fault them for this one, but still) _________________ Welcome to Houston, DeAndre Hopkins! |

So 2 great drafts, 2 terrible drafts and one that was "meh", looks like this is the year to show us how they really are...to break the tie-breaker.... _________________
