One thing less discussed here is who we potentially use the franchise tag on; (if we use it at all).
Simpson/ Caldwell/ Sims/ Fanene/ Rucker/ Collins/ Nelson ?
Which of the FA's do we most want to keep ? Who's the most difficult guy to replace ?
Maybe Simpson ?????? _________________ " I imagine that in Paul McCartneys' house, he must have a shelf with the 12+ great 'Beatles' studio albums neatly stacked. At times, he must rock back in a chair, light a cigar and say to himself, '....not bad for a life's work......' " |

I don't think we franchise anyone. We do not have any FA's worth it IMO.
We need to resign Sims, Nelson, Collins, Fanene and I would not mind seeing Simpson back just as depth.
I think the most difficult to replace is Sims. He has been fantastic and we all saw what happened when he went out this year. I think we should focus on bringing him back _________________

I don't think we need to use it, just get our guys resigned. _________________

I suppose the real question is whether any of our FA's are worth average top 5 money at their position.
I guess its Sims or Simpson. _________________ " I imagine that in Paul McCartneys' house, he must have a shelf with the 12+ great 'Beatles' studio albums neatly stacked. At times, he must rock back in a chair, light a cigar and say to himself, '....not bad for a life's work......' " |

Simpson? Really? Pay him like a top 5 WR? I'm fully prepared to let him walk if he wants a big contract at all. I may just let him go anyway.
If ANYONE, I'd tag Nelson. _________________ 2013 Draft Needs: RB, Safety. Maybe RT and backup LBs |

Simpson deserves to be paid like a top 5 receiver? Only if you are looking at our depth chart. I like him as a 4 or 5 _________________

If that was possible, do you think we would ever see a coach get franchised? _________________

No; but perhaps a more topical point, is that if Zim gets the head honcho gig in MIA or TB; given that he is still under contract to us; could Mike Brown ask for draft picks as compensation.......?????
That has happened before. _________________ " I imagine that in Paul McCartneys' house, he must have a shelf with the 12+ great 'Beatles' studio albums neatly stacked. At times, he must rock back in a chair, light a cigar and say to himself, '....not bad for a life's work......' " |

It usually only happens when a HC under contract goes to be another HC. Owners usually let coordinators out of contract to pursue a HC job. No one in the world would work for Mike Brown if he forced them to pass on HC jobs. Please don't give him any ideas we don't need Mike Brown as Owner/GM/Coach/DC... lol. Anything to save a buck with that guy. _________________

NFL rules specifically state that teams are allowed to interview coordinators on down for vacant head coaching spots with zero strings attached. The asking for permission thing is a formality.
Draft picks are only involved when coaches move laterally (HC to HC, asst to asst) to take the same spot on another team whiole under contract. _________________
