Assuming we are picking in 5 - 10 slot, who is the most likely guy that someone would trade up for? Who is the 3rd best QB, where is he projected? |
Potentially for Jeff King as well. We might get something in the 6th-7th range for those guys. _________________

| We need a nose tackle... 1st need is a nose tackle. You see all the successful teams, what do they have? A huge, big a** nose tackle. We get a nose tackle, we clog the lanes, we can put more people into coverage. |

Clariborne from LSU looked real good last night against Bama, wouldnt mind picking him up if Jefferys or Blackmon are gone. _________________

In the words of the theme song for "Good Times," we're "moving on up" the draft board.
Miami
St Louis
Arizona
Jacksonville
Seattle
All winners.
Minnesota yet to play.
We could be #2 behind Indianapolis real quick. I'd love to get in the middle of the Luck or Barkley sweepstakes and trade down for a pile of picks.
We sill need a bunch of guys.
Dline
Oline
Dbacks
Linebackers
WRs
Probably OK at RB, QB, and TE. |

1. Jeffery
2. Blackmon
3. Kirkpatrick
4. Claiborne
1/2 are interchangeable, as are 3/4. But if we can get one of the receivers, they need to be the pick over the corner. _________________

You got it. I think we need to see what we really have with Butler/Hogan before we take a high pick on a corner, unless neither WR you mention is there when we pick. _________________

If teams like Saint Louis (still have a few divisional games left) and Jacksonville (still have the Titans and Colts) keep winning games, our chances of landing a receiver skyrocket.
And, although it probably won't come to it, if all 4 of those guys were gone, I don't think its too much of a talent drop-off to go to Michael Floyd, its just the off-the-field issues that push him down.
Just going on "need", we're probably better off missing on the receivers, as we could go CB-DT, but getting one of those guys sets us up better for the future. Not only from the stance that we'll have our future #1 receiver, and one of the best #2's in the league while Smith sticks around, but it also gives us more leeway to let our young defensive players develop.
In round 2 we'd have plenty of possible picks at CB and DT. Chase Minnifield (CB-UVA), Janoris Jenkins (CB-NA), Dontari Poe (DT-MEM), and Marcus Forston (DT-tU). The real world beaters will be long gone by our next pick, so we'd probably turn to depth at LB and then along the OL. So depending on which spot we take, it gives either Butler/Hogan or Fua/McClain more time to develop. _________________

Bingo.....If either the two WR on the board i would take them but i really think we need to invest a second round pick on this offensive line.......RG,LG, & RT are weak spots right now & need to be addressed. _________________

With the 1s round pick which is now certainly in the top 5 range they should try to trade down and accumulate picks (already lost the 3rd). If can't move down and Kalil is there, he is the obvious pick. Today was a perfect example of the offensive line problems and we must protect The Franchise. Gross as near the end, love Wharton but so is he. Handgartner is stop gap and while Bell has filled in and is probably the biggest upside surprise I don't want to bank on him. Otah is a bust. We have to sure up the offensive line as a top priority. Let Kalil play with his brother - that is a good long term safe pick.
Someone will slip to the 2nd round, but could be tons of scenarios here DT, LB, CB, WR. There will be some serious talent available right here. WR or DL seem to be the biggest needs.
Panthers need to extend Hardy right now. |

I don't disagree with this statement, but the OL pass protection hasn't been a problem all season long other than this game. I was at the game and the RT spot was a problem today... major problem. But I feel that coaching and a year of development can cure that ill. The Panthers have to look to the future and they will need to develop a #2/future #1 receiver. If the Panthers are drafting in the top 5 there is no way they can pass on Blackmon/Jeffery. Cam needs a future connection. |

Kalil2 isn't a fit at RT, and he's not unseating Gross. I don't think he's a good fit overall with our offense.
If we go on a hot streak and end up picking around 13th, maybe we look at Riley Reiff if Otah is cut. _________________

The Panthers don't run the same blocking system that their past coaching staff did. The guys up front are Fox types. Kalil2 could be future LT in this scheme. The power running game is gone. This is a zone read team for the future. |
