I doubt you're referring to the song Sorrow, but that's a good one too. I used to think he was singing "Don't leave my Hepburn heart alone" but when I was looking at lyrics for the write-up I finally realized I had it wrong. I think my version was better though. _________________

Kinetics & One Love
| kinetics music wrote: | Kinetics & One Love, a hip-hop/electronic duo from NYC, are revitalizing underground hip-hop and reinventing standards for dance and pop music. Ever since they met in college, rapper Kinetics has been offering a distinctive compliment to One Love's instrumentals, eclectic reflections of Love's background as a club DJ and drummer in an indie rock band.
It doesn't hurt that the two go to an Ivy League university: One Love's extensive training in music theory and classical composition is evident in the beats, while Kinetics's lyrics breathe socially conscious and provocative themes, topped with a touch of frat boy humor and sarcasm. In the summer of '09, Kinetics & One Love released their debut album, Fading Back to Normal. |
I was visiting cornell for college last year and thats when i found out about kinetics & one love. ive just been amazed by these guys ever since. Kinetics can really spit and has great flow and lyrics, while One Love mixes together indie/electronic/classical music sounds, to make fantastic beats.
fun fact: these guys wrote the music and chorus for Airplanes by B.O.B
Favorite album is fading back to normal. you can download all of their stuff on their website Here

Spiderland is one of my favourite albums EVER. This was good timing actually because I just read a very interesting article about that album, check it out: http://thequietus.com/articles/06168-slint-spiderland-anniversary . All about how the lyrical genius of the album is often overlooked in favour of talking about how influential they are.
I haven't really gotten into Tweez yet, but it is very different. More like hardcore punk, but with weird jazz elements thrown in. Still not sure yet. _________________

Thanks for contributing though. It was a bit scarce.
Fun fact: On Good Morning Captain, the singer actually made himself sick from yelling over the guitars at the end bit |

I included a couple songs from SSFDL but Jets is just getting into The National so he hasn't had a chance to give them too much of a listen. 90-Mile Water Wall was actually my first "favorite" song of theirs. It's funny you should phrase it like that though, because as far as I have heard neglecting their first two albums is pretty much what The National does when they perform live. |
It's true. They played like 20 songs in concert, none of which preceded Alligator. |

| Packman Luke's thoughts wrote: | | Spoon is one of those upbeat, energetic bands that is easy to pick up and get into in just a couple listens. As somebody who has to limit the music he plays around his less tasteful friends, Spoon and a few other bands give me a nice bridge between quality music and accessible music. Although I can't say I enjoyed their latest album, I find the deeper I go into their discography the more impressed I am. Hopefully they're not done dishing out catchy music, because Spoon is a band I plan on following for quite some time. |
| Jetsqb101's thoughts wrote: | Spoon is a band that's perfect to play when I'm happy, whether it's the 1-2 punch of You Got Yr. Cherry Bomb-Don't You Evah! with all the in between noise, or a song like I Turn My Camera On which can inspire shy guys like me to take the dance floor. Spoon isn't limited to those songs though, as I find myself waiting for every "If you were here. would you calm me down." in The Ghost of You Lingers, a song that's hardly danceable(though I wouldn't mind watching people try to ). I think they're an easy band to like, and Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga has some great songs and runs for a total of like 40 minutes, making it a really easy listen. |
Previous Bands:
Modest Mouse
The Shins
The Strokes
Nick Drake
The Long Winters
The Hold Steady
Guided By Voices
Bright Eyes
The Postal Service
