Quote:
Virginia Tech left guard Greg Nosal earned tough-guy points on Saturday, postponing the reattachment of a torn-off tip of his left pinkie to keep playing

Team surgeon Mark Seigel gave the 6-foot-6, 293-pound redshirt junior the option of having the finger repaired on the spot, or having the hand bandaged and the tip put on ice to be reattached later. He chose to keep playing, took pain medication and went back in.

That is ballsy.... and recklessly stupid.

What if his delay resulted in things not working out? Bit risky...

But damn!

Well....that is certainly toughing it out. But, uh...kind of dumb.

Hats off to him, though.

If he has a surgeon telling him it's OK to keep playing, then I'm sure he felt fine about it. It was the tip of the pinky, it doesn't move that much anyways, so it would just look bad. It's gonna look bad regardless of when he reattaches it.

thats nothing special...there was a kid last year in DII i believe...he was pretty legit i believe and he was in a game and severally broke his pinky. he was trying to win a national championship. well he broke his finger so bad and the doctor said u need surgery on your pinky and you will be out for the year in decided to just have it amputated so he can keep playing...

i think a famous hall of famer defensive back or something like that did that

I remember something like that.

Anyways, my sister had her finger cut off once, right at the base. They put it back on and it worked fine. I don't know exactly how that all works.

Would be more impressive if he was a WR. Or QB.

I was listening to the football coach talk about that when I was working a game for Sports Med. I was in shock how much dedication that guy had.

A surgeon wrapped it up and told him he could keep playing.

I remember that, whats even crazier is his coach had done the same thing when he played football.

Like some have said, tip of pinky isn't all that valuable.

But it was certainly balsy to opt to go back in.
