Ryan Moats RB Louisiana Tech 5’8 207
By: Robert Davis

You would be hard pressed to find a back that has been as productive over the past two seasons as Ryan Moats. As a sophomore, Moats ran for 1,300 yards and 10 touchdowns. He followed that up with an even bigger junior season. He finished this season with 1,774 yards and 18 touchdowns. He was named the WAC offensive player of the year for his junior season.

Moats is an explosive rushing threat. He has excellent quickness and agility, and the speed to take it the distance. He is tough and willing to run between the tackles, and fights for extra yardage.

The biggest problem with Moats is his lack of size. He isn’t very big, and doesn’t pack a great deal of power because of it. He also hasn’t caught very many balls over his career. He’s had some nagging injuries that may become a bigger issue as he faces bigger and better competition.

Ryan Moats is going to find his place in the NFL because he is a very good runner, and can make plays with the ball in his hands. He recently checked officially in at 5’8 and 207lbs, which is a good start to showing he can be an everydown back in the NFL. I had my doubts about him topping the 200 pound mark during the season. If he can show some extra pop between the tackles, he may surprise as an everydown back. He reminds me of Kevin Faulk of the Patriots, with less receiving ability at this point. He could hear his name called in the 3rd round of this year’s draft.
