Logan Mankins OL Fresno St. 6’4 307
By: Robert Davis

After redshirting his first year with Fresno St., Mankins moved into the starting lineup at LT and never gave it back. He has started every game he’s played in, including protecting former #1 overall pick David Carr’s backside. This year against Virginia, Mankins squared off against potential first rounder Darryl Blackstock and held him without a single tackle all day.

Mankins has the type of attitude every coach wishes his players would have on the offensive line. He’s tough, he plays with a mean streak, and he never gives up. He will never be outworked on the football field. He has good agility, and can block on the move. He played LT in college, but will likely move inside to guard in the NFL, so he brings some ability to play in or out.

There really aren’t many knocks on Mankins. He is not a great athlete, but he is good enough to be a standout guard at the next level. He has had some injury concerns, as he missed the entire 2003 season to a knee injury and has had some ankle problems during his time at Fresno.

Mankins is the perfect guard prospect at the next level. He possesses everything except standout athleticism, but he’s going to play for a long time on Sundays. He will likely be the third or fourth guard off the board, and should hear his name called in the second round at some point.
